With Barcelona shifting their long-term project focus toward the summer 2027 transfer window for a new forward, the Catalan club has identified another rising target. According to A Bola, Barcelona are among the clubs tracking Monza's 21-year-old Portuguese striker Gustavo Varela, who has enjoyed a stunning start to Italian football with 11 goals in just 10 matches, earning a call-up to the Portugal U21 national team.

Securing the youngster's services will require a significant financial effort. Having joined from Benfica for €2.5 million last summer, Monza now value Varela—whose contract runs until June 2030—at €40–50 million, with 20% of any future sale owed to Benfica. In addition to Barcelona, Arsenal and Napoli are also closely monitoring the prolific forward as clubs prepare to battle for his signature in the upcoming months.
