Contract renewal talks between Borussia Dortmund and 30-year-old central defender Waldemar Anton have hit an unexpected roadblock following the club's first official offer. According to Sport Bild, the German defender—who has made 14 appearances this season—felt the initial financial proposal from the Signal Iduna Park hierarchy fell short of his true value, prompting his representatives to submit a counter-offer.

Although his current contract runs until June 2028 and CEO Carsten Kramer recently assured Sport1 that discussions were progressing smoothly, the expectations of both parties currently remain far apart.
