Sporting CP Secure Narrow Champions League Away Win Against Shakhtar Donetsk Thanks to Mahamadou Doumbia

Sporting Lisbon claimed a hard-fought victory on the road in the UEFA Champions League group stage, defeating Shakhtar Donetsk courtesy of a single goal from Mahamadou Doumbia. The Portuguese side withstood heavy pressure from Arda Turan's men early on, anchored by solid defending from Gonçalo Inácio and crucial saves by goalkeeper Rui Silva.

The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when a sharp team move down the left flank, spearheaded by Luis Suárez, set up Doumbia in the box to break the deadlock. Despite Shakhtar's desperate attempts to equalize—including efforts from Pedro Henrique, Caua Elias, an acrobatic shot by Marlon Gomes, and penalty appeals over a challenge on Vinicius Tobias—Sporting held firm to secure the 0:1 victory and dent Shakhtar's qualification hopes.
