Gavi Benched for El Clasico as Uncertain Future Looming at Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder Gavi faced an unprecedented situation during the latest El Clasico, failing to feature for a single minute against Real Madrid due to a tactical decision by manager Hansi Flick. Following his recovery from a long-term injury, the 22-year-old Spaniard has seen his starting role diminish, finding himself behind Pedri, Rodri Hernandez, Marc Bernal, and Frenkie de Jong in the team's midfield hierarchy.

According to Sport, the intense competition—which also includes attacking midfielders Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo—has cast doubt over Gavi's long-term standing in the squad. Although the Spanish international remains under contract until 2030 and is deeply committed to the club, he cannot afford extended periods on the bench at this stage of his career, potentially forcing a reevaluation of his options ahead of the January transfer window.
