Liverpool Target Defensive Reinforcements with Shortlist Featuring Schlotterbeck, Murillo, Bastoni, and Kounde
Liverpool are prioritizing the acquisition of a new central defender as the long-term futures of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez remain uncertain with their contracts expiring on June 30. According to Football Insider and transfer expert Pete O'Rourke, the Anfield club has compiled a shortlist of defensive targets favored by manager Andoni Iraola.
Borussia Dortmund's 26-year-old German defender Nico Schlotterbeck remains a long-standing target; although he recently extended his contract until June 2031, he is still closely monitored by Liverpool scouts. Joining him on the shortlist are Nottingham Forest's Brazilian center-back Murillo, Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni, and Barcelona's versatile defender Jules Kounde, whose future at the Camp Nou has not been guaranteed.
