Barcelona's Summer Move for Federico Dimarco Rejected as Inter Milan Face Contract Standoff

Last summer, Barcelona explored the possibility of signing 28-year-old left-back Federico Dimarco from Inter Milan, even offering Alejandro Balde as part of a potential player-exchange deal. The Nerazzurri promptly rejected the proposal, firmly viewing the Italian defender as untouchable.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are now heavily focused on extending Dimarco's stay. While the club plans to trigger a unilateral clause to prolong his current deal—which expires in June 2027—by an additional year to 2028, negotiations have hit a financial hurdle. The defender is reportedly demanding a wage increase to €7.5 million per year from his current €5.2 million salary, leaving the two parties with significant ground to cover.
